Youth Synod

The Youth Synod is a project led by one of the uYPS 2012/13 interns. It aims to create a youth-focussed event to run along-side the main Synod event which takes place twice a year.

The first Youth Synod took place on 27th April at Caedmon School in Whitby and was open to all aged 14-23. It was a great day, and it was fantastic to see the support the young people are given in the York & Hull District.

YOUTH SYNOD - 5th April 2014, 10am-4pm

Step Up!

Manor Church of England Academy, York

"You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its saltiness how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything... You are the light of the world... people do not light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house."
What does it mean to be the 'salt and light' in our communities? What is it like to be a young Christian today? These are the questions that we are going to be exploring at Step Up (youth synod) through prayers, worship, workshops and discussions.
Step Up is open to anyone between the ages of 11 and 23 who want to hear more about God and for their voices to be heard.

YOUTH SYNOD - 7th September 2013

Creative Love

South Holderness Technology College

Our focus for this Youth Synod is being creative in our work for and worship of God.  We will also be looking closely at topics which have been raised at the Methodist Conference and 3generate including poverty in the UK, the Big Questions and Worship Leading in your church.  There will be contemporary worship and it should be a great opportunity to meet other passionate young people from around the district.

YOUTH SYNOD - 27th April 2013

Extremists for Love

Youth Synod is a chance for young people from around the district to meet, worship, discuss issues that are important to them and have fun!

It will be an opportunity for them to find out more about Methodist Youth Assembly and hear what was discussed there this year.

It is open to anyone between the ages of 14 and 23, and will take place in the same place and at the same time as the Spring Representative Synod (27th April at Caedmon School)

It should be a great day and we hope to see as many young people as possible!
